Yes, a major decision was made as part of the NSW budget to end the 1^st home owner grant of $7000 come 30 September 2012.

Government assistance will now be about “new dwellings” not “existing dwellings”.

As of 30 September, first home buyers will now receive 2 types of government benefit if they buy or build a brand new home for less than $650,000:

1. The “First Home Owner Grant (New Home) Scheme” will see first home buyers receive up to $15,000.

2. Transfer Duty exemptions for purchase price of $550,000, phasing out at $660,000 (from July 1 onwards).
